The Hewitt & Whitty Saddlery Team live and breathe our horses just as must as you do. However we are in a unique position to road test this seasons newest products designed to keep you toasty warm in and out of the saddle.
1. Roeckl Roeck Grip Glove.
We are all fans of the Roeckl range of gloves. Like all Roeckl gloves these fit like a second skin and provide superior grip and tactility when handling reins or girth straps (and don’t forget they are touch screen compatible, so taking that horsey selfie doesn’t mean you have to take your gloves off!)
The winter glove has the addition of a micro Bemberg lining so your fingers will stay warm the whole ride.
The leather is easy to care for (you can chuck it in the washing machine) or do what I do and just run some leather conditioner over them when you clean your boots!
2. QJ Riding Wear Millie Winter Breech
We love how comfortable and supported we feel riding in QJ breeches (and you are supporting an Aussie company!) These winter breeches come in the popular high waisted style and have a bonded fleece inner layer to keep you warm.
These come in a navy (which makes it easy to match your saddle pad!) and a full silicone seat. QJ can be a little on the small size so double check your sizing.
3. Ariat Womens Gridwork ¼ Zip Baselayer
This is a must have for those not wanting to bulk up with too many layers but still want some warmth. The Ariat Gridwork base layer has a fleece layer for warmth that will also wick moisture away from the skin (when working up a sweat in the saddle or cleaning boxes!)
Convenient placed thumb and watch holes mean that the sleeves stay and they are just super comfortable to move in you won’t want to take them off. These come in a variety of colours each winter and are easily accessorised away from the stable with jeans and vest.
4. Ariat Womens Heritage IV Paddock H20
We all know that wet socks are the worst. These Ariat H20 boots mean wet socks from walking on wet sand and grass are a thing of the past. This boots have all the bells and whistles you find with Ariat with the addition of waterproofing!
These boots will look great on and off the horse and are great value for money- they make great riding boots in summer too!
5. Horseware Rambo Supreme Dry Rug
For those that have an unclipped horse this is must have in your winter tack box!
If you have to hose off after a ride and are worried about how long it’ll take your horse to dry (and get too cold) this is the perfect solution. Scrap your horse off, put the dry rug on and have a cuppa. Half an hour later you will have a wet rug and a dry horse!
The rug is made from a microfiber polar fleece and has elastic chest straps and surcingles that mean a certain sized rug can be used on a range of different sized horses (check the size guide). The neck will roll down and velcro into a pocket if unneeded. This rug can also be used for a travel rug, a cooling rug or a show rug!!
